1. Information We Collect
Label photos & scans. When you scan a nutrition label, we capture a photo of the label and the text extracted from it (calories, carbs, sugars, ingredients, etc.). Scans are stored on your device so you can revisit them in your history and favorites.
Camera and photo library access. With your permission, FoodCheck uses your camera to capture labels in real time and your photo library to import existing photos. We do not access any photos beyond the ones you explicitly select.
App preferences. The app stores your chosen AI model (Gemini or Claude) and your interface language. These preferences live on your device and are not linked to your identity.
Purchase information. If you subscribe to Premium, the Apple App Store or Google Play processes your payment. We receive a purchase receipt or token to verify your subscription status; we never see your payment card details.
Device & usage information. We may collect basic device identifiers and app version information for diagnostic purposes (e.g., crash reports). We do not collect advertising identifiers.
2. How We Use Your Information
- Label analysis. The label photo and extracted text are sent to your selected AI model (Google Gemini or Anthropic Claude) so it can compute the glycemic index, identify hidden sugars, and generate health recommendations.
- AI-generated content. Daily insights, recommendations, and detailed reports are generated by sending the scan content (no personally identifying information) to the AI provider you choose. Provider data use is governed by their respective policies — Google and Anthropic.
- Scan history & favorites. Your past scans are stored locally on your device so you can build a personal low-GI shopping list and revisit results.
- Subscription verification. Purchase receipts are sent to our backend to confirm your Premium status. They are not stored beyond what is needed for verification.
- App improvement. Aggregated, de-identified crash and usage data may be used to fix bugs and improve the app.
3. Third-Party Services
FoodCheck relies on the following third parties:
- Apple App Store / Google Play — subscription billing and purchase verification.
- Google (Gemini API) — AI label analysis when Gemini is the selected model.
- Anthropic (Claude API) — AI label analysis when Claude is the selected model.
We do not share your data with advertising networks, data brokers, or analytics platforms.
4. Data Storage & Security
Your scans and preferences are stored on your device. Label content sent to AI providers is transmitted over HTTPS/TLS. We retain server-side data only as long as needed for subscription verification and you can request deletion at any time (see Section 6).
5. Children's Privacy
FoodCheck is not directed at children under 13 (or under 16 in the European Economic Area). We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided us data, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.
6. Your Rights & Choices
- Access. You can view all your scan history and favorites inside the app.
- Deletion. Email developer4565@gmail.com with the subject "Delete my data" and we will delete any data associated with your device within 30 days. You can also clear scan history directly in the app.
- Camera and photo library. You can revoke camera or photo library access at any time in your device Settings. The app will still work, but you won't be able to capture or import labels until access is restored.
- Notifications. You can disable push notifications in your device Settings.

7. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be noted in the app. The effective date at the top of this page will always reflect the latest revision.
